    Default Fire Department Slideshow

I'm working on creating a fire department slide show to show at our annual Christmas party using photos from various incidents, training and drills, photos taken around the station, and social events. It's for entertainment purposes, kind of a recap of the year.

Does anyone have any ideas of songs / music that I could use?

So far I've got "Taking Care of Business" by BTO, and "There Goes My Hero" by Foo Fighters. And of course, the obligatory Backdraft song, "The Show Goes On." But after a massive brain fart, I'm out of ideas. Help!!!

    Thanks : )

    Check this one out:HCRS Slideshow

    Under Pressure - Queen
    C'mon C'mon - Von Bondies
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - Neil Diamond
I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!

One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

I'm not sure exactly what program they used to create their slideshow, but a good program is Microsoft's Photo Story. It is very easy to use, easy to add music, motion and move the pictures around. The best part is it's free.

Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire".

Just remember that in order to not violate any copyrights, don't sell any copies of the slide show.

    However, you can accept donations.

Would like to get a copy of your slide show to use in the Public Relations class I teach. One of the modules is on creating audio-visual materials and I like to show ones that have been done by other fire companies.

If you can please send it to me at

    Thanx.

The slideshow was comprised only of incidents during the 2004 calendar year.

P.S. We like to think that we have become quite proficient at removing people from cars by now.

I did something like this a few years ago for my old department. An added "feature" was mixing in radio traffic from our calls throughout the year. I convinced someone to give me an extra pager and hooked it up to a computer running a free voice activated recording program called ScanRec (there are others out there). I used CoolEdit Pro to mix the radio traffic into the songs. It turned out really well. It starts out with a black screen and then the first thing you hear is a Minitor II going off, followed by a montage of dispatches as the first song starts and pictures roll. The pager going off scares the bejeezus out of you if you don't expect it. Songs I used were "Danger Zone", "Burning Down the House", and "The Change" by Garth Brooks. The whole presentation is a huge file because of all of the pictures, but if anyone would like to hear just the audio contact me and I can send you an .mp3 of it. Good luck with your project...hope it turns out well!
