LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Saturday, November 19, 2005, at 10:46 P.M. PST, fourteen companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Assistant Chief Officer Command Team, four Battalion Chief Officer Command Teams, one Battalion EMS Supervisor, four LAFD Rescue Ambulances, one Hazmat Squad, one helicopter the Tractor Company, one Arson Unit and other City Agencies, under the direction of Assistant Chief Ralph Terrazas, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 4507 South Normandie Avenue in the Coliseum area. First unit on the scene reported a vacant (under going renovation), two-story four-plex well involved with fire exposing three apartment buildings. Using handlines, Firefighters aggressively attack the fire on the interior of the structure while Firefighters on the exterior used heavy stream appliances to set up water curtains between the fire building and the exposures. Successfully preventing major fire spread to the exposures, Firefighters confined the fire to the four-plex and a palm tree and extinguished the fire in approximately twenty-six minutes. One helicopter was ordered to patrol down wind for flying brands from the structure and a palm tree that was ignited by the 30-40 foot flames. A Building and Safety inspector was requested to evaluate the integrity of the structure. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as under investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $500,000, structure only.

CAMDEN, NJ

Camden New Jersey Fire Department will be honoring three fallen fire fighters who were killed at the Sixth Regiment Armory Fire at West and Mickle Streets on March 16, 1906.

We have found that one of the members is buried in an unmarked grave at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camden. A fund has been established to buy one fallen member a head stone to mark his grave and to upgrade the other two firemen. One was from Engine Co. 1 and two were from Ladder Co. 2. We have made up 200 special Fire Department tee shirts commemorating this 100th Anniversary of this tragic fire. There is alot more to the story about this fire and the events. Some are actually ghostly in nature relating to things that happened before and after the fire more info forthcoming about this.

The tee shirts are available now and are selling very quickly and we anticipate a fast Sell Out. They come in all sizes from Medium, Large, EXlarge, XXlarge, XXXlarge. They are $20.00 each if picked up---$5.00 shipping charge for mailing.

http://www.fallenbrothers.com

Fallen Brothers was founded by two brother FDNY firefighters, Brian and Kevin Shea.

Kevin, while assigned to E331 in Howard Beach as a probationary firefighter (with only 3 weeks in the firehouse), the Captain in his firehouse, Vincent Fowler, died while operating at a fire in a private residence. Alongside his firehouse members, Kevin went to the aid of the Fowler family and assisted in the distribution of T-shirts to raise money solely for the widow and three young daughters. While selling shirts at festivals and events, he noted that it would be a good idea to sell these shirts on the Internet, increasing sales and bringing in more money for the family.

Kevin enlisted the help of his brother, Brian (Ladder 61), to help design a website for Capt. Fowler's Memorial T-Shirts. Brian and Kevin also saw the need for a location to sell the shirts of all the other brothers who had died on the job.

The Fallen Brothers Foundation was setup, with a website - FallenBrothers.com. The simple premise: all proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to the funds of the individual families. Administration costs will be kept to a bare minimum by low cost Web marketing and word of mouth.

In the year 2000, the first full year of operation, over $11,000 was distributed.

Before the September 11th attack, the Foundation was on it's modest way to double the first year's amount raised.

September 11th changed things. With Kevin involved in the collapse (the only survivor from his firehouse and Battalion), and a flood orders and support from all over the world as everyone wanted to help the families, we had to temporarily suspend sales. We have now restructured the order process to be able to handle the large volume of orders. We are happy to say that by the end of October, we were back online, better than ever.

We will be adding more items to the site as new designs come available.

We thank everyone for their continued support, now, and more importantly in the future as the families move forward.

-Brian

APSN was founded by true emergency professionals that are more than just scanner listeners. We specialize in notifying you about major fire and police events as they happen around the entire State of Arizona. Our professional staff knows what news is, and we do not send minor, non newsworthy events. All television, talk radio & newspapers in Phoenix currently use APSN. When you receive an alert from APSN, you will want to know what is happening! Why wait for the evening news when you can have the news, as it happens, delivered directly to your pager or email address! How do we notify you? That is your option. Although alpha numeric pagers have proven to be the fastest form of notification, we can notify any email address that you may have. That means we can send alerts to your PDA, 2-Way pager, cell phone, or personal email.

For paging groups around the country, we use the FNNM national system for multiple alarm or newsworthy incidents. We prefer to receive incidents via SNPP but can receive via dial up modem.
