    Default Questions for Non-LODD

    The Situation.

Our Ex-Chief passed away suddenly Sunday of a Heart Attack. The Department he ran for so many years is IAFF. He left about 5 years ago for another department (probably not IAFF), and recently returned to our area to compete for another local job. My questions...

    1. Our Honour guard has been requested. We represent two separate departments. One IAFF, one not. I wear a badge on my uniform and the IAFF guys don't. Is it appropriate for me to wear a black mourning ribbon on my badge? Consider that this is not a LODD and that, although I am a volunteer with that department, I will be wearing my day job fire department uniform.

    2. I have a good understanding of our role in the Church. I am unclear as to our job at the Cemetery. The IAFF site has good information, but would appreciate any advice from Guardsmen who have done this before.

    Thanks for you help.

Go to the PA Fireman site, http://www.lcfa.com/PAFIREMAN/DOWNLOAD.html and scroll down until you see the guidelines for funerals.

The PDF file has regulations for all funeral situations.

I was shocked to hear that Brian passed away. He was my Deputy Chief for about 4 yrs here in Wetaskiwin AB. He was an awesome guy. I took over his job about 6 mths ago when he decided to move back to Whitehorse. A few of our members are attending the funeral tommorow. He will be missed.

    Default Thanks brothers...

Thanks Dragonfyre... I had limited time but did consult your page prior to the funeral. It was helpfull.
Firemanmikey... he was a firefighters Fireman. I had nothing but respect for Chief Monahan. I did the best job I could for him on the last page of his life. I pray that was enough. It was an honour to be a part of his Guard. We all felt very priviliged.
We are all deeply sadend by this loss.
