*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

AUSTRALIA
Saltwater Creek Fire- Corindi, Coffs Harbour - 10am update

Fire crews are still working to mop up the fire in the Yuraygir National Park after establishing full containment lines over the weekend. Rural Fire Service (RFS), Forests NSW and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews worked over the weekend to establish backburns to bring the fire, which began last Wednesday, under control. The calmer conditions on Saturday allowed major backburns on the western containment line to proceed. A NPWS helicopter was used on Sunday to drop aerial incendiaries to burn out areas between the fire face and backburn areas. This produced new smoke which was visible from as far north as Grafton. Heavy earthmoving equipment is still being used to rehabilitate trails opened up as containment lines. An RFS helicopter will remain available today for aerial observation work over the fire. Rain showers are forecast for the next four days. The fire has now affected more than 3800ha of national park, state forest and private property. The RFS has posted newsletters in Wooli and other appropriate areas to advise the local community of the fire situation. Motorists should continue to avoid Barcoongere Way and Station Creek Rd which remain closed to the public. The Station Creek rest area is closed and is expected to remain closed for the next three days.

CAMDEN, NJ

Camden New Jersey Fire Department will be honoring three fallen fire fighters who were killed at the Sixth Regiment Armory Fire at West and Mickle Streets on March 16, 1906.

We have found that one of the members is buried in an unmarked grave at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camden. A fund has been established to buy one fallen member a head stone to mark his grave and to upgrade the other two firemen. One was from Engine Co. 1 and two were from Ladder Co. 2. We have made up 200 special Fire Department tee shirts commemorating this 100th Anniversary of this tragic fire. There is alot more to the story about this fire and the events. Some are actually ghostly in nature relating to things that happened before and after the fire more info forthcoming about this.

The tee shirts are available now and are selling very quickly and we anticipate a fast Sell Out. They come in all sizes from Medium, Large, EXlarge, XXlarge, XXXlarge. They are $20.00 each if picked up---$5.00 shipping charge for mailing.
