Default Fire Prevention & Safety Grants

Has anyone heard a timetable for the FPS grants? Any projections as to when activity (such as questions and/or 1199's) may start for those first round departments?

Someone from DHS, somewhat removed from the award process, advised the FPS grants are going through technical review and there is no clear picture when the process might begin.

We should see some activity in time for Xmas, hopefully at least 2 rounds. FP Review was the 1st week in November, so they should be wrapping up the reviews on the DHS side and getting things in order to send out prenotifications just like you heard.

Well, some of my departments have gotten their 10 questions on FP&S today so if youconsider 10-14 days between questions and awards it looks like it willbe 2nd - 3rd week in January as I said.

Well Kurt, since you are so informed and have all the answers, how many rounds should we expect?

That is a pretty safe bet since we saw basically 8 rounds last year, with a single organization in the 9th late in the game. Thanks for the answer however, itís pretty much what I expected to see.

Ohio Senator Dewine's webpage list 2 departments in Ohio that are to receive grants this Friday. At least some movement after the Holidays.

All the one's I have worked on (that have let me know what's going on...) are still in & waiting - including my own FD. So, no news - blah, blah, blah.

Fingers crossed for you & Good Luck.

    Default Deadline?

Somebody help me find the app. deadline for the grant. This is my assignment, and I've looked everywhere on-line and can't seem to find it. I figured it'd be easy enough to find, so of course, I wait until the last minute. Call me stupid, but I didn't count on having to deal with this again.

If you're referring to the FP&S grant portion (spin-off of Assistance to FF Grant) then that ended in Oct. Here's their blurb:

The Fire Prevention and Safety Grant application period is presently scheduled to be from 8:00 A.M. EDT on September 6, until 5:00 P.M. EDT on October 7, 2005. The online application will be available at: https://portal.fema.gov

What exactly are you trying to apply for and looking for funding for? There may be other programs, or something local to your state/region...
