Penge – man rescued

A man was led to safety by firefighters following a blaze at a house on Cornish Grove in Penge yesterday afternoon. The fire started in the kitchen and fire crews wearing breathing apparatus managed to stop the fire from spreading throughout the property. The Brigade was called at 1626 and was under control by 1643. Firefighters from Beckenham and Woodside fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Tottenham – house fire
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Devonshire Hill Lane in Tottenham yesterday afternoon. The building was severely damaged by the blaze. The fire spread onto a connecting house damaging a small part of the roof. The Brigade was called at 1705 and the fire was under control by 1820. Firefighters from Tottenham and Edmonton fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

- Milford - NH - Thursday Thanksgiving Day, 1922 - Milford - NH - Jones Crossing - White Mountain Freezer Company burned down

1924 - Nashua - NH - East Hollis Street at Dearborn Street - Nashua Street Department building - Fire in boiler room - Two firefighters were injured when STEAMER 3 blew up. Steamer 3 had been in service since 1872. The chamber on the steamer exploded causing the horses to bolt. Driver Percy Lintott of Steam 3 was bowled over. Fireman E.C. York was struck by a piece of flying metal and received a gash to the head.

1929 - Hampton - NH - Hampton Beach - The "Dance Carnival" destroyed by fire

1933 - Sanford (Springvale) - ME - Clark's Court - Cook apartment block - Serious fire

1965 - Milford - NH - Line of Duty Death - Harold H. Richardson

1968 - Salem - NH - Multi-Alarm - Milville Circle - 5 family members die - House destroyed

1969 - Hudson - NH - Kimball Hill Road - Thompson's Market burned, 2 apartments over grocery store

- Dawson - Yukon Territory Canada - Thanksgiving Day - With temperatures at 58 degrees below zero a blaze broke out in the M & N Saloon after a dance-hall girl threw a burning lamp at a rival - The blaze destroyed two saloons and the Opera House - This same girl was responsible for a major fire in Dawson on Oct 25, 1898

CAMDEN, NJ


Camden New Jersey Fire Department will be honoring three fallen fire fighters who were killed at the Sixth Regiment Armory Fire at West and Mickle Streets on March 16, 1906.

We have found that one of the members is buried in an unmarked grave at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camden. A fund has been established to buy one fallen member a head stone to mark his grave and to upgrade the other two firemen. One was from Engine Co. 1 and two were from Ladder Co. 2. We have made up 200 special Fire Department tee shirts commemorating this 100th Anniversary of this tragic fire. There is alot more to the story about this fire and the events. Some are actually ghostly in nature relating to things that happened before and after the fire more info forthcoming about this.

The tee shirts are available now and are selling very quickly and we anticipate a fast Sell Out. They come in all sizes from Medium, Large, EXlarge, XXlarge, XXXlarge. They are $20.00 each if picked up---$5.00 shipping charge for mailing.
