I have to agree with the brother from Chicago.

We have a 1974 Mack CF that came from Forest Park that is Black over red. Our brush truck is black over red. Our new rescue pumper coming in will be black over red. This is all on my POC FD.

My career FD is a different story. Slime Green with white relective stripes.

My personal vehicles? A red 2002 Ram Pick up and a 1995 slime lime Neon.

Red, with white tops......It is what real fire truck is suppose to look like, any and all other color's are disneyland fire apparatus.....LOL

I know I know, my captain tells me I am a fire truck racist, and as he says if it starts up and gets the job done, who cares about the color.

    But there are those parades.....LOL!!!!!!!

RED with white on the cab from the bottom of the windshield up. White reflective stripe on the cab and red on the roll up doors (non-painted).

Small reflective white unit number inside the red stripe each side, large red number on rear roll up door.

Blue reflective "PARAMEDICS" one each side on rear roll up door.

Gold leaf department name on front cab doors, over front grill and over each wheel (with white pinstripe).

Reflective department emblem on rear cab doors.

Truck has red sign on the lader with gold reflective (with black trim) department name.

Sample:http://psfrd.org/T28.htm (not a good photo, but you get the idea)

    Is that enough info?

Fluorescent Red body with irridescent pearl white cab.
    That'll get their attention.
Two that color and then there is the one that is traditional Mack Red.
    You're right.
Fire trucks are red, but fluorescent red!

We are finally getting rid of our last "slime limes" from the old fleet. All new apparatus are white over red. Here is one of our new Engines.

I like red, black over red, and white with a red stripe. That green crap has got to go.

Of course Jack Daniels has black rigs at their distillery.

Very bright yellow, we just sold our last red one
Though we do have one that has a white cab, with yellow body, but we are painting it completely yellow....

Cleveland Clint, I thought you were dead!!

We use red in Memphis. With the advancements that have been made in warning lights and reflective lettering and striping, I really can't see where it really has anything to do with safety anymore. If they don't see our red ones with lights and reflective striping, they're not gonna see any other color apparatus either!!

Maybe in the olden days where all you had was one bubble gun light on top. Today it would seem more about the preference of the individual in charge at the time.

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.
