    Default FDNY Highrise Rescue

Does anyone know where I could find pictures, video, or other information on the May 1991 Manhattan highrise rescue conducted by Capt. Patrick Brown, 3 Truck, FDNY? (LODD 9/11/01)

    Thanks

If you have access to the monthly Fire Department Training Videos "American Heat" they did a segment on it. The incident is located on:
    August 1991, Volume 6 - Program 2

Some departments have all of the American Heat videos on file somewhere.

I've got the medal day book with the write-ups in in it, I'll scan them in sometime this week and see if I can post them here.

So Kevin Shea is the one on the rope in those photos, not Capt. Brown. And Capt. Brown was with Rescue, and not 3 Truck at the time?

Nate, thanks for all the info.

p.s. Did you get my earlier email Nate?

    Thanks

I got your email brother, just haven't had time to respond. I will get back to you soon.

Yes, Captain Brown was the officer of Rescue 1 (I believe the Lt.) that day. Kevin Shae was the Firefighter on the rope in the photo.

When the first rope rescue was done, the rope was pulled back up to the roof and another rope rescue was performed on another side of the building using the same rope. Pat Barr (who was involved in the the previous lowering evolution) was lowered to another victim. I believe he was detailed to Rescue 1 from a Truck company that day, but I'm not sure on that.

Kevin Dowdell also assisted that day, he was also killed on 9/11.

Rescue 911 had a show on this rescue, "Firehouse" had a show with this rescue also. I've got an old VHS copy of the firehouse episode. Let me see what I can do about making a dvd out of it.
E-Mail me and I might be able to help you out.

Both shows did a good job of describing the rescues. True heros.
