    Default FDNY Recue 1 replacement

I'm hearing rumors that Pierce is building a replacement rescue truck for FDNY Rescue 1 in Manhatten. I know that SOC has a bunch of one off pieces that were donated after 911. I wonder who will get the final nod?

This is not a rumor. I was told by our Pierce representative that the P/O was submitted to Pierce in October. It will be on a ArrowXT with a tandem axle. It possibly will be similar in style to units that were recently delivered to LA City.

You'd think Pierce's marketing dept would really be putting the word out on this contract....having the honor of building the next rig for the best rescue company in the nation and all. Haven't seen a peep about it though. Might want to book a trip to FDIC this year though just in case....maybe they could have it finished in time to display it there since it would be on the way to NYC anyway.

Maybe you misunderstood ,Rescue 1 is rumored to get the new unit,
    Not Rescue 2.

    I caught that. Excellent.
Stay low and move it in.

    Be safe.

The truck that FDNY is getting from Pierce is being given to them as part of Homeland Security from the Feds. FDNY had no input into the purchase of this thing.

Weather it will be used day in and day out as their Rescues are remains to be seen. It may just sit in waiting.

Pumpguy- According to what I have been told the new truck will be the replacement for Rescue 1. The specs were designed specifically by FDNY. As to who is paying for it I do not know.

I read this in the Pa Fireman magazine a couple of months ago. The gentleman that wrote it under "Apparatus Ramblings" has been pretty accurate in the past.

Pierce may not be advertising it until it's been there and proved to be worthy. IF, and I say IF, it gets there and is a bad venture, they won't have to worry about that. IF, and I say IF, it gets there and all works well, you can then bet they will promote it. Sounds like a smart company to me.
