*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

UNITED KINGOM
LONDON, ENGLAND

THURSDAY 1 DECEMBER

Stoke Newington – flat blaze

Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Upper Clapton Road in Stoke Newington yesterday afternoon. The fire damaged part of the fist floor flat and is believed to have been caused by a faulty electrical appliance. The Brigade was called at 1608 and the fire was under control by 1648. Firefighters from Stoke Newington and Homerton fire stations attended the incident.

Bow – warehouse blaze
Around forty firefighters were called to a blaze at a warehouse on Fairfield Road in Bow this evening. Nearby railway lines were closed for a short period of time and reopened when fire crews confirmed that acetylene gas cylinders, which can explode when heated, were not involved. A single storey warehouse and garage were badly damaged during the incident. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The Brigade was called at 1723 and the fire was under control by 2015. Crews from Bow, Poplar, Stratford, Wennington, Bethnal Green and Deptford fire stations attended the incident.

LOS ANGELES, CA:

GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE
5514 N. CLEON AVE.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD
DATE: 12-01-2005
TIME: 4:49 P.M. PST
INCIDENT #: 0775

On Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 1649 Hours, (PST), nine Companies of Los Angeles City Firefighters, two Rescue Ambulances, one Arson Unit, and one Battalion Chief Officer Command Team under the direction of Battalion Chief Evan Williams responded to a Structure Fire at 5514 N. Cleon Ave. in North Hollywood. First units on scene found a one-story, brick commercial building, approximately 50' x 75' with heavy, pressurized smoke escaping from two large roll-up steel doors and the front glass entry door. Firefighters were immediately confronted with access problems which required the cutting and removal of security bars on the windows and doors. In addition, the large rolling steel doors had to be breached using rotary saws and hand tools. Due to the close proximity of neighboring buildings, access to the fire had to be
accomplished through the front of the building. Heavy fire was located in two rooms in the rear of the building. As Firefighters gained access and began to attack the fire, firefighters on the roof simultaneously conducted ventilation operations. Firefighters were able to gain control of the fire in just 16 minutes. The building appeared to be a music equipment storage facility which was currently being renovated for use as a studio. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are still being tabulated.

CAMDEN, NJ

Camden New Jersey Fire Department will be honoring three fallen fire fighters who were killed at the Sixth Regiment Armory Fire at West and Mickle Streets on March 16, 1906.

We have found that one of the members is buried in an unmarked grave at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camden. A fund has been established to buy one fallen member a head stone to mark his grave and to upgrade the other two firemen. One was from Engine Co. 1 and two were from Ladder Co. 2. We have made up 200 special Fire Department tee shirts commemorating this 100th Anniversary of this tragic fire. There is alot more to the story about this fire and the events. Some are actually ghostly in nature relating to things that happened before and after the fire more info forthcoming about this.

The tee shirts are available now and are selling very quickly and we anticipate a fast Sell Out. They come in all sizes from Medium, Large, EXlarge, XXlarge, XXXlarge. They are $20.00 each if picked up---$5.00 shipping charge for mailing.

Make all checks payable to:

Camden Armory Fire, P.O. Box 239 Haddon Heights, New Jersey 08035. Or you may call Jim Alexander 856-547-0892 or Bob Bartosz 856-468-0866.
