Saint Pancras – flat fire
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to blaze at a flat on Tonbridge Street, Saint Pancras in the early hours of this morning. The fire started in the bedroom of a fourth floor flat. The bedroom was severely damaged by the fire and the rest of the flat was heavily damaged by smoke. Two women were rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus from the fourth floor flat via an internal staircase. They were both taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from burns. Two adults and a child were also led to safety from the fourth floor and were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. There was no working smoke alarm in the property. The London Fire Brigade carries out home fire safety checks and will fit a free smoke alarm where needed. To make an appointment or for more information call freephone 0800 0 24 48 24. The Brigade was called at 0329 and the fire was under control by 0446. Firefighters from Euston and Clerkenwell fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Brixton – four people rescued
Fire crews were called to a blaze at a maisonette on Bramah Green in Brixton last night. A woman, two children and a baby were rescued from the first floor window via a short extension ladder. They were all taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire damaged part of the maisonette and fire crews acted quickly to stop the fire spreading to surrounding properties. The Brigade was called at 2206 and the fire was under control by 2242. Firefighters from Brixton fire station attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Texas FF Critical-Burned

We have been advised that Firefighter Dwight Murphy of Cameron Gardens (Texas) remains in critical condition after being burned while fighting a grass fire on Wednesday. The volunteer firefighter was burned when winds caused the flames to spread in several directions. Chief Richard Harmon says FF Murphy was not wearing his bunker coat while fighting the fire. This morning, Murphy is at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and has second and third degree burns over 25 percent of his body. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. More details will be posted on our home page (www.FirefighterCloseCalls.com news/updates area) when they become available.
