Public Meetings To Explore 911 Conspiracy Theory

Former Tampa philanthropist Jimmy Walter is leading a group of conspiracy theorists calling for an independent investigation into the U.S. government's role in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The group, which also includes a computer programmer, a former government economist, a World Trade Center survivor and a talk radio host, is kicking off three Tampa public meetings this week. They will discuss their belief that high-level government operatives staged the terrorist attacks to push the country into war with Iraq and funnel money to well-connected defense contractors. Panelists produced several books and DVDs that claim to show, in part, that the Trade Center towers were rigged with explosives before the attacks.
