    Default AED Grants

Does anyone know if there is any specifc AED grants out there that cover full or almost full funding for AED's? I found, applied for and received one that ended up being a very small portion paid for. We ended up not accepting the grant due to the low percentage that was paid for. We are looking for funding for two but would settle for one. It would be a shame to have to use Fire Act funds for a $5000 project. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Check in to HRSA. I know that we received an AED from them a couple years ago.

AED's are also good projects for corporate or private foundation grants that have "health or seniors, kids etc. as priorities. This is also an easy "fundraiser" with some raffled merchandise given from the Target or Wal-Mart. People are starting to recognize the advantage of AED's being readily available and they will fund a project like this, or support fundraising activites for them..

Might check your local hospitals. We have a couple of hospitals who have charitable foundations that do AED grants all the time.

We purchased our AED using grant $ from local hospital/assisted living endowment fund.

    You might check into

Rural Access to Emergency Devices Grant Program
The Office of Rural Health Policy's Rural Access to Emergency Devices (RAED) Grant Program provides funding to rural communities to purchase automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and provide training in their use and maintenance. The legislation that created this program states that awards will be made to community partnerships.

Recieved an email this morning from NVFC that the funding for this program is in doubt for future years. Looks like only impoverished areas eligible.

Not sure why we are putting AED in public buildings (that are only occupied a few hours per week) when we do not have and AED on EVERY fire dept vehicle (and maybe police).

Wink check with your state oems

They may have a program set up. WV had a grant program with zoll.

    Good Luck!

p.s. Also consider putting it into a fire acts grant with other needed items. It worked for me! Got 7 life pak 500's and 2 stations equipped with vehicle exhaust systems.
