    Default College Scholarships?

Does anyone know where I can find applications for scholarships or grants for firefighters that would help offset some of the costs of going to college? I am a newer firefigter with a BS in Education and am looking forward to continuing my education with a MS in Fireground Leadership or Fire Safety and Administration but college is just so expensive. If you have any information or can guide me in the right direction, please post or email me at jeremeking@hotmail.com. Thanks!

You are going to fnd it hard to locate a grant for your "personal" education other than through Pell Grants, which you will have to find by contacting the financial counsleors in your higher edcuation University of choice. There are some grants available for fire adminstartors and executives but, they usually require that you are already in an administrators position and are considered more of a "continuing" edcuation in nature, The Harvard Fellowship comes to mind. Here is a link to that program:

Sorry that the news is not better in this regard.

I have posted this once before...

IAFC Foundation -- Applications for 2006 scholarships can be downloaded from www.iafcf.org or e-mail request for applications to
iafcfoun@msn.com. Their deadline is August 1 of every year.

Check out your state's firefighters and chiefs associations, too. For those from NY -- I received two awards from the NY State Association of Fire Chiefs, of course that was back in 1995 and 1996! I think FASNY has one, too.
