Saturday night, Magonila Springs responded to a terrible boating accident involving 3 members of South Baldwin Search & Rescue (all of whom are also members of Fish River-Marlow VFD) after the Fish River Boat Parade. Two of them were flown to USA Medical Center and the 3rd transported there by MedStar. One is in critical condition, although she had no vitals until she reached the hospital she is now showing some improvement but not very much. Another is in serious condition but the outlook is much more positive for him, and the third is being evaluated for internal injuries but is stable. Both of the victims in the 2nd vessel although thrown from their boat are okay.
All your prayers will be welcomed! I went thru training with the female firefighter and she is all heart! She's a really great person to know! I pray that all of them will recover! So young, she's got alot of living yet to do!
Stay safe out and watch out for the others!

Working in an area surounded by water, I know all too well that boat accidents usually dont turn out well.
I hope this time that wont be the case.
And so close to Christmas.

Thats horrible. I used to work for DEP and I don't think I recall a single boating accident that wasn't just awful. Any idea what happened?
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Crying might not help, but it draws us closer together!
Went to the USA medical center today, the news is not good for C.G. She is in an Alpha Coma! All you firefighters out there pray for her please.
The other 2 members of the team are doing better, although one suffered a crushed chest, he came through ok, but is still in serious shape, as is the other one too, so keep them in your prayers also guys!
We gotta stay as safe as we can out there brothers and sisters, keep an eye on each other and watch out for the unexpected!
Peace be with ya'll

I'm very sad to report the passing away of Firefighter Chelsea Garvin
With great sorrow and a heavy heart I am sad to report that FireFighter Chelsea Garvin, a member of Fish River Marlow Fire Department, has passed away! Chelsea was one of those rare people whom when you met you really liked her. She was a friend of mine and all of us will miss her very much! Chelsea has been called to her final alarm, may she rest in peace, and may the Lord help her family and friends find peace!
Her Memorial will be held on Saturday December 17, 2005 in Fairhope Alabama.
Chelsea, we will all miss you and your smile!

You're in our prayers.
Some of you have asked for details. I'm not from anywhere near the location of this tragedy but I found this Mobile Register story about the incident. It is a terrible tragedy for all involved.

FF Garvin
For what happened we may never really Know. Only one fire fighter rembers anything and that isnt much. we just know that its an accident that involved two boats that hit head on.
I speak for myself as a friend of all three, a twin brother of one and a boyfriend to Chelsea that she will be very very missed at the station. To all of you that knew her. I dont have to tell you that her smile and attatude was infectious. For all of you that didnt know her im sorry because she was someone that represented all fire departments well. All she ever wanted to do is help people
With that note both my Brother and Best friend are out of the hospital and recovering
Thank you from me, my fire department and our familys for your prayers
