    Default AF Firefighters

I am currently in the process to cross train into firefighting, my question is for those of you that are married what is your family life like is hard on your family with the schedule you work or does it work out with the time off you get? Speaking of which what kind of schedule do you work? Is it 24 on 24 off or 48 on 72 off?

Hi, I just do this part-time (reserve), but I believe that most work 24/24. About every two weeks you get a three day break. These breaks differ from department to department. Take care and stay safe!
Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)

Aggressive does not have to equal stupid.

I was Active Duty AF for 5 years and now am Army Civilian. Ive always worked 24/24 with a set kelly day (break day). Go to ...... lottsa info on different sceadules there! Also has great info on military firefighting. My wife began dating me when I was AF and has gotten prety used to the shifts. Personally I wouldnt have it any other way. I still get more time with my kiddo in a week than most guys do in two!
