Tulsa Fire
Check the city web site for the most up to date info. I am not sure about hiring at this time. We just had 2 academies of about 35-40 cadets and one class in right now of 36; but with a lot of retirements right now they may be having a class next year. As for how hard it is to get hired. That should not matter. Of course it's hard, just like any other department. I see a lot of posts on here with people wanting to know how hard it is to get a badge at this or that department. It's a hard job to get for a reason. Best job in the world. Just make the decesion to do what ever it takes to get your dream job.
Tulsa does give education and Paramedic preference. But you still have to pass everything and have a good interview score. Capt. Bob is an excellent resource. As far as rookie school, it is 22 weeks. It was fun but I would not want to do it again. You better like to run for PT. Let me know if you have any other questions.Shawn Clark

Tulsa fire academy
As far as certs. you will receive during the academy; FF1, FF2, Hazmat ops., Intro to tech rescue, Incident management, Emergency responce to Terriorism, Inspections, NIMS, Rope Rescue, Car seat installation. Unless your a Paramedic you will also get Hazmat Tech. or Rescue Tech. Paramedics go through a month long medic academy. Having FF1 and FF2 will not help you get hired but it will make the academy a little easier.
