SATURDAY 17 DECEMBER

Hayes multiple fatality fire

Two adults and three children have died in a serious fire at a house on Willenhall Drive in Hayes, Middlesex this morning. Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters fought a fierce blaze which spread throughout most of the two storey building. Crews wearing breathing apparatus worked quickly to locate the adults on the ground floor and the children on the first floor. Unfortunately all five have been pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated. The Brigade was called at 0256 and the fire was under control by 0453. Crews from Hillingdon, Southall and Heathrow fire stations attended the incident, fire investigation officers will remain at the scene this morning.

Forest Gate flat fire
Firefighters were called to a blaze at a flat on Wyatt Road in Forest Gate last night. The fire started in the lounge and is believed to have been caused by a candle setting a high fi unit alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to stop the fire spreading to other parts of the flats. A woman and a child left the building before the Brigade arrived. There was no smoke alarm in the property. The London Fire Brigade carries out home fire safety checks and will fit a free smoke alarm where needed. To make an appointment or for more information call freephone 0800 0 24 48 24. The Brigade was called at 1857 and the fire was under control by 1921. Fire crews from Stratford fire station attended.
