I catch both holidays this year, christmas was fairly slow i think 12 total for everyone. It was kinda nice to be able to sit down with everyone on shift and eat a full christmas meal without the alarm dropping, new years eve has brought some wild calls over the years but having new years day off = lots and lots of football. Everybody stay safe

holidays
I was off for Christmas and spent it with the family at Disneyland and with my folks. I will be working the New Year here and from the looks of things we will have 500,000 tourists celebrating along with the locals. Yuk.That many drunks in one place always has its challenges.

I worked Christmas Day. Pretty slow. One little fire and the usual ambo BS. I am pulling a double yesterday and today. Payback is a bitch. I would not like working 48 hours on a regular basis. Its not too bad at time and a half, but otherwise it bites. But after 0700 tomorrow, I am done for 2005. Happy New Year to all.

Made it through a prime rib dinner we cooked, everyone was in house to enjoy. Only had to get up twice in the night and had nothing to do with drunks, fights or car wrecks. All in all it was a great shift, how about eveyone else?

I also worked both this year. Unlike Chick, we did not get to eat uninterrupted. Just sat down to a well cooked surf and turf and had to go run off in the ambo. Tastes almost as good warmed up though.

Im working the 24th and 25th nights, and December 30th and 31st days, January 1st and 2nd nights.
To all my Bro's...
May Santa bring you leather lids and boots, stay low, stay safe and remember our fallen Brothers who cannot be here to celebrate the Holidays."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

I managed an exchange of shift so I can spend the first 12 hours of Christmas Day with the family and go to work the second half. To pay back that exchange, I am working the overnight 12 hours on New Years Eve/Day.

I hope everyone working today has as slow a shift as I had Christmas Eve. Today's shift is having a throw-down meal of epic proportions with three stations, the ambulance service, and air ambulance crew all invited. I almost wish I could stay, but I'm looking forward to seeing my kids bouncing up and down with excitement (and too much sugar) when I get home.
