Bluffdale blaze causes heavy damage to condo

BLUFFDALE — A fire caused nearly $300,000 in damage to a condominium Sunday.
Bluffdale Fire Capt. Tom Jones said the owner of the condo received "the surprise of her life" about 4:30 p.m. when she came home, opened her front door and faced a wall of fire.
Bluffdale and Unified Fire Authority crews arrived at 14053 S. Cabernet Drive (1550 West) to find flames leaping up to the eaves, Jones said. It took about an hour for the 15 firefighters, three engines and two trucks to bring the fire under control. It took another two hours to fully extinguish the blaze.
"It could be rebuilt," Jones said of the condo. "Under inspection, the floor joists are in good shape. There was no extension into the other (three) condos that were connected to it."
Jones said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
