My dad found me an old MSA fire helmet in an antique store and it still has the original sticker in it. It is plastic with a stencil on the front that says USA FD. There is also a red stripe that was later painted on it that goes over the center of the helmet. My dad says that the guy in the antique store said that many years ago, there was fire gear stored in sheds along rural county roads, and that it was possibly a Government program? Has anyone heard of something like that in your area?
I did search the forums a little bit but didnt find anything. I would like to try and find out a little more about this helmet but dont know where to go. I hate to contact MSA, as they are a business and dont want to bother them. If anyone might be able to enlighten me a little, i realize that it will be hard to tell me much about it, but maybe somebody could use the number on the sticker to tell me who it was sold to or date of manufacture or anything would be really great. Thanks for everyones help.

I wonder if it's like the one we have hanging up at our station. It was plain black with a MSA 4" faceshield and a leather chin strap. From what I remember ours was made in the 60s and aside from that don't know much else.NREMT-P\ Reserve Volunteer Firefighter\Reserve Police Officer
