    Question NYS fire district information?

    Does any one know a link where this info might be available? In particular about Volunteer firefighters and Chiefs living out of district.

    It's not working tonight, but when it's up look in the "TWN Town Law" for laws affecting fire districts. Or see if your local library has a copy of the NYS Consolidated Laws that you can browse.

    New York State Town law has the responsibilities of a fire district.

    There is no State law stating that your Chiefs must live within the fire district, however your department can make it a rule.

    As for your members living outside your district, NYS Law says no more than 45% of your members can live outside the district.

    Your department can make up it's own rule and change the percentage, however it has to be a lower percentage, not a higher one.
