Fire Department Re-imbursements

Just curious if any depts. have received re-imbursements from the USFA for any deployed teams sent to Katrina. The web site says anticipate a two week turnout for funds to be electronically transferred. Please post if anyone has any information or how long it took to receive everything.

I am not 100% sure if this is where the funds came from, but a department near us just got their check this week for 23-25K I hear.

I recently had my taxes done and the accountant specalizes in the fire service and he told me has heard that dept. are starting to get their checks. FYI he also told me to make sure that when your dept. pays you from the reimbursment to have the district take out 20 to 25 % for Fed. and 5 to 10 % for state! Hope it comes soon!

I'm a firefighter, but when to Katrina as a Sheriffs deputy, and we were reimbursed, thru EMAC, recieved our money the second week of February!
Check with your State Emergency Management, for details, the money comes thru them.
