    Default Volunteer Firefighter Training

I am interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter. I stopped by my local station and they won't be accepting applications again until next fall.

In the meantime, I was hoping to start some sort of training, either on-line or at a school (preferably in the evenings). I'm told I'll need to pass Firefighter Level I as well as my EMT.

Any assistance or ideas so I could get started on this would be greatly appreciated.

You should find out if the dept. pays for training or if you have to get it on your own. Many organizations will provide any and all required classes and certifications. They may let you attend their meeting and training sessions and while you may not be able to participate it will show your interest and desire to join the department and you will get to know everyone and an overall feel for the work that is done.
