Perhaps your on to something Bou. Why cant we have a Firehouse Forum or an IACOJ convention. I mean, if swingers and Trekies can do it, why cant we?
All we need is a nice spot with lots of things to do. I know Tampa is a big convention spot. The beaches, the nightlife, Bush Gardens and an hour from Orlando with Disney and Sea World and the other parks. All we need is a hotel for a 3 day weekend.
Maybe do it during the winter, so all you folks in the cold can come down here and enjoy the weather. Even hang out at the beach or play golf in the dead of winter.

Still, it'd be neat. Some of the folks on a railroad forum I frequent pull it off at a train show from time to time.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.

Now that I'll be travelling and teaching for the NFA 4-5 times per year maybe I'll get to meet a few people in my travels.
(P.S .... For some of you, and we both know who you are, that is sarcasm, and it will never happen, but for others that is al egitmate offer.)
For now, it will be pretty much in the mid-south.

Actually, no.
As an NFA Instructor teaching an NFA class, I have to stick to the curriculum with no changes/additions/deletions or opinions.
After hours, I can discuss stuff but have been advised by several NFA instructors that it is far better to discuss a minimum of personal opinions with the students.Train to fight the fires you fight.

I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

No.
I can certainly add personal experiences, or what I have seen other departments do, regarding the subject, as well as additional information, but it has to be objective material, not personal opinions or promoting what I view as "the best way" to do X, Y or Z.
If I wish to add additional materials such as videos or such, we must submit it to Emmittsburg for their approval.Train to fight the fires you fight.
