Kentish Town – hostel fire

Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a blaze at a hostel on Arlington Road, Kentish Town in the early hours of this morning. The fire started in the kitchen on the fourth floor and firefighters managed to stop the blaze spreading to other parts of the building. The fire damaged most of the kitchen and fire crews led people to safety from the fourth floor via an internal staircase. The Brigade was called at 0322 and the fire was under control by 0413. Firefighters from Kentish Town and Euston fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by police and fire officers.

Barking – flat blaze
Fire crews were called to a fire at a flat on Upney Lane in Barking yesterday afternoon. The blaze damaged part of the five roomed flat on the fifth floor. Three people left the building before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade was called at 1740 and the fire was under control by 1802. Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters from Barking and Ilford fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Holloway – house fire
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to a blaze at a house on Benwell Road in Holloway yesterday afternoon. The fire damaged part of the ground floor and fire crews used two hose reels to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led five adults and one child from the third floor and one adult from the second floor all via an internal staircase. The Brigade was called at 1638 and the fire was under control by 1722. Fire crews from Holloway, Islington and Kentish Town fire stations attended. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Truck is fully involved. We have heavy timber involved from the temporary bridge, which appears to have a collapse. Setting up for a "Foam" operation with the TowerLadder. Fire is Doubtful.

1928 - Washington - DC - Arsonist set 12 fires (four of them termed as fierce) in the city in which 30 firefighters suffered various injuries -The city of Baltimore sent ten engines to assist in fighting all the fires - Arsonist named John J.
