Does anyone know what needs to be done if you received an item in 2002 grant and now the unit it is on is being replaced?

The item is a fill station that was installed on our rescue. Since the grant was issued a committee was formed to replace the rescue. During the spec of the new rescue it was detremined by the committee that a sapace saver is a better fit in the new unit. Do we have to keep the current fill station, is it ok to be sold as a part of the truck, or can we sell it seperate?

    Thanks

As long as your grant was closed out correctly and you kept all your paperwork for the required three years I believe you can do with it as you please. My suggesstion would be to GIVE IT to another less fortunate mutual aid partner. I am sure they would be very appreciative and it would be in keeping with the spirit of NIMS and interagency cooperation.

No, Kurt you'd be wrong on that - I'm sure their closeout letter had a clause similiar to this - "It is understood that --------Fire Department will maintain all equipment/supplies purchased through the Assistance to Firefighter grant for the entire life cycle of the equipment/supplies."

Not disagreeing with you on this, as I have been wrong before. I was under the impression that since it was "installed" on a truck and the "truck's useful lifecycle" had ended, that this would satisfy that. It seems rather pointless to have what is essentially a "part" of a truck without the truck. I would certainly agree at this point that clarification from a higher authority is needed. I will see what firegrant support in DC says and get back to you on this. Look for a resposne on Tuesday.
