    Default Another new guy

Well I hate introducing myself (guess I dont have to though) But I thought I would say Hi to everyone. One thing I should mention is I am not a FireFighter and I dont have any firm plans to become one, however I have always been interested in FDs and want to learn more and I have just from reading stuff here. But I do have A LOT of questions still
One more thing, I am a horrible speller

I've seen spelling a lot worse than yours.

    Welcome to the site!
I've always been interested in the fire service as well. My grandpie was chief, and then my mom wanted to become a volunteer but she never did. I'm just starting out, I've volunteered for a small, rural department now for a year or so.

    HI and Welcome...
Sometimes I think that being a good speller makes for a boring forum

You have come to the right place to ask questions about the Fire Service. Take Care and Have Fun!!!
Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)

Hello from Connecticut. I am a new user. I live in Milford. I own several scanners. Sometimes I take pictures of fires and auto accidents.

    Hello, Conncticut,
I am a non FF, but like some out there, I am a mutantwho is intrigued by everything and everyone concerning the profession. What is a "scanner" and how can I get one? I take pictures for my Fire Departments and one project that I put together for Fire Station 131 is, I have been told by 2 FF's, sitting in the Chief's office. I'd like to do more with the photos to make it more appealing to the personnell. Can you email me with that information @

    Welcome both rmiller and dreamer

A scanner is a device that you can listen to Fire Dept's,Police,Ambulance,Public Works and the list goes on. You program frequencies into the Scanner and go from there. You can pick them up at Radio Shack or Look on E-bay.
