    Cool New Member Introduction!!!

    Hello All,

    This post is from a new firefighter in Chickaloon, Alaska. Our department is an all volunteer service made up of neighbors who were tired of watching homes destroyed because we live outside any service area in Alaska. We took the Basic Firefighter training in November 2005 and are about ready to begin service to local residents on March 1, 2006. Our department consists of young and old--male and female volunteers who are learning to work as teams on 3 engines and 1 tender.

    Personally I am one of the older female firefighter volunteers and as an ordained minister I have been asked to serve as the department Chaplain by our Chief. My two teenage children (1 boy & 1 girl) also took the Basic Firefighter training are firefighters with the Chickaloon Fire Service. This family experience is teaching us many things and bringing us closer together.
