    Default Becoming a fulltime FF

Ok so here is my question, if I was to become a full time FF, would there be any point in continuing with a Fire science Associates Degree?? Or would it be smart to change and get something else that I can fall back on???

    Doh!

Get the fire science degree. Use it as a springboard for a further degree.

    Default degree

agreed 100% - use the associate degeree as a springboard into another field - try elementary education - maybe science or health.

with a BA - you can always look to teach (full time or as a sub) as a means of added income.

sub's in NJ are making an average of $100/day - depending on district - my wife has been a full time teacher for 5 years and that phone rings almost every day with available sub assignments - and most of them are local gigs !!!!!

Degrees can also be a benefit to future promotions in the fire department if you want to get into an administrative position. A good fire chief not only needs to be able to lead and manage people, but also manage budgets. Some business classes thrown in with a fire science degree can only help you in the long run.
