Default Hello North Va/West MD 4x4 Guys

I was wondering if there were any good 4x4 trails in northern VA or western MD? Not looking for anything real silly/stupid places to go, just somewhere that I can take my truck and excercise the transfer case without running it on hardpack.

Back home I had lots of gravel roads where I could go out for an hour or two every month, just to make sure that everything works properly. I've been trucking around the area since I got here, but am a bit hesitant to just head down any gravel road, not knowing who might be at the other end, and how well he/she might be armed.

    Any suggestions are very welcome.

I'm from the northern-most tip of NC but one place does come to mind:

    George Washington National Forest-Harrisonburg, VA

    Hey Rick,

You can try this section of the FSB Forum I subscribe to. Lots of folks from there in the NE, and even some mild-to-wild organized trail trips if your into it.

Thanks for the inputs guys. As you can imagine, I am looking to keeping things working, but can't afford to go crazy. Gravel roads and relatively easy trails are ok, but since my truck is my only vehicle, I can't afford to go "silly-buggers" up to the window frames (as much as I'd like to)

Assatauge Island just south of Ocean City, Maryland and the Outer Banks of NC will provide you with legal beach running.

Cheffie, you may be on to something. After climbing up Harve's Ladder truck the other day, 27 went out and bought a ladder and is trying to jerry-rig it onto his 4x4. He mentioned something about buying some hose....

It has TWO. Both on the back end, one on each side. They come on when I turn the park/headlights on, and when I step on the brake. Oh and they also come on when I flip that funny handle switch thingy that sticks out of the left side of the steering column.

Whoa...someone who actually uses those things. I thought those things faded out with the introduction of driving while talking on the cell phone into America!

Well... see thats on account of two things:

    1) I'm an "Import" and

    2) I'm a safety geek, so I kinda like to make sure they work and that they get used as required too.

But, sadly I agree with you on the rest... seems to be a dying breed to use signals appropriately.
