FARMINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT 1ST. ALARM


Farmington, MO: February 1, 2006 at 3:41 p.m. the Farmington Fire Department was dispatched to a one alarm commercial fire in the 900 Block of Valley Creek Drive Farmington, Missouri. Employees of the Rayn's Restaurant called 911 stating smoke in the building. The first fire company arrived on the scene at 3:46 p.m. reported a one story, block building with nothing showing. All occupants had been evacuated by employee's before fire companies arrived on the scene. Fire company's found moderate smoke conditions within the building. A functioning sprinkler system in a exterior mechanical room had extinguished the fire. The building sustained moderate smoke conditions with no structure damage

Farmington Fire Officials investigation found the cause to be from combustible materials too close to water heaters.

Total of four engines, two ladder companies, One Chief, One Fire Prevention and Inspection Specialist, One ambulance from St. Francois County Ambulance District, Representatives from Missouri Natural Gas, and St. Francois County Health Department Inspector were on the scene for two hours.

Plumstead Ė flat blaze

Firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Spinel Close in Plumstead yesterday morning. The fire damaged a small part of the second floor flat.

Two adults and two children were rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. They were all taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 1013 and the fire was under control by 1036. Fire crews from Plumstead and Erith fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Greenfield Pursuit - 2:15 AM

Greenfield PD chased a vehicle from the area of 35 & St. Francis EB down Loomis Road westbound in the eastbound lanes at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. GPD terminated the pursuit when they approached Greendale but found the vehicle wrecked at Oxford & Ramsey in Greendale. Suspects are gone and a K9 is en route. Apparently the suspects were breaking into a vehicle and successfully took off with a stereo.

1887 - White River Jct (Hartford) - VT - Wreck of the Central Vermont train at the White River Bridge - Worst railroad wreck in Vermont, many killed and injured

1898 - Boston - MA - Third Alarm - Box 412 - 116-126 Merrimac Street - GW Bent Bedding Factory - Six firefighters killed by collapsing floors during overhaul

1905 - Portland - ME. - Congress Street - Waldo Hotel - 20 occupants rescued over ladders - Moderate damage to building

1905 - Ware - MA. - Main Street - Albertine Block - Two story tenement over stores gutted by fire - 2 children barely escaped with their lives

1905 - Ware - MA. - Ruggles Automobile garage destroyed in a spectacular fire - This was the second major fire of the day in the small town of Ware and the second time in six weeks there was a fire at Ruggles.

1905 - Oxford MA. - Fatal Fire in farmhouse on Dresser Hill - 90 year elderly woman, the sole occupant, perished in the fire - House burned to ground

1905 - Hartford CT - 108 Asylum Street - Fire in basement of Warner and Bailey store and spread to the McKernan Salon, both total loses

1905 - Abington - MA. - Box 23 - Walnut Street at Cheery Street - The Centre House (Keene Hotel) 2 story 40x50, an attached building, a barn and a dwelling destroyed by fire

1994 - Bernardston - MA - Mohawk Plastics - Large factory destroyed by fire - Mutual Aid several MA, NH, VT towns including Hinsdale, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Winchester, Keene and Meadowood - 35 Engines and trucks at scene

1998 - Boston - MA - Hosemen Patrick H. Disken, John J. Mulhen, William J. Welch; FLT George J. Gottwald; FCP James H. Victory (All Engine 38/39) & District Chief John Francis Egan (District 3) LODD at Box 3-412, 116-126 Merrimac St.

1998 - Stoneham - MA - 3rd Alarm - Box 381, 102 Pond St - Commercial Bldg

1881 - Rome - NY - Dominick Street - Adrich's Cigar Factory, Kingsley Building on James Street and an adjoining store damaged by fire - $40,000 damage

1905 - Birmingham - AL - Robert Garity and Company, and the Earle Building were among several concerns in the principal business district to be destroyed by fire - Aid requested from Atlanta, Chattanooga and Gadsden - Request for aid was later cancelled when winds shifted to a favorable direction
