PA FF's Burned, German FF LODD

At least 2 firefighters were injured this morning while operating at a dwelling fire in the City of Chester, Delaware County, PA. Companies were reported to have had heavy fire conditions on the 1st and 2nd floors of an unoccupied row house that was quickly spreading to the adjoining multi-occupied residences. These homes are very tight and literally against each other and attached. Several firefighters were operating on the stairs which collapsed under them and at least 1 FF is reported to have serious burns. One firefighter was also injured when he fell from a ladder at the same fire. We'll post additional updates as needed either here or on the News/Updates section. And in Germany, a firefighter fell to his death as firefighters worked frantically to remove snow from the roof of a hall in Bavaria to prevent its collapse. Two other firefighters also were injured in other incidents as snow kept falling in southern Germany. The heavy snow has been blamed for several roof collapses in the area. The 27-year-old firefighter was taking safety ropes to other firefighters when he fell through a skylight in the hall in yesterday, dropping 50 feet onto a concrete floor. Our sympathies go out to all affected by the tragic loss.

UNITED KINGDOM
LONDON, ENGLAND

FRIDAY 10 FEBRUARY

Peckham – two women rescued

Fire crews led two women to safety from the third floor of a house on Grove Vale in Peckham yesterday afternoon. Peckham fire station Crew Manager Danny Edwards said: “Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and managed to stop it spreading from the kitchen, where we believe it started. The two women were on the third floor of the property at the time of the fire and we used ladders to bring them to safety.” The cause of the fire is not thought to be suspicious. Both women were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The Brigade was called at 1302 and the fire was under control by 1332. Crews from Peckham and New Cross fire stations attended the incident.

Ealing – restaurant fire
Firefighters were called to a blaze at a restaurant on Uxbridge Road in Ealing yesterday afternoon. The fire started in ducting and damaged part of the roof. Fire crews managed to stop the fire from spreading to surrounding properties. Firefighters led a person to safety from the flat above via an internal staircase. Three people left the restaurant before the Brigade arrived. The Brigade was called at 1630 and the fire was under control by 1818. Three fire engines and around fifteen firefighters from Ealing and Southall attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
