Hi All! I have 30 years in the fire service, 23 years as a career firefighter. I'm looking to retire from my curent department and starting a new career in the fire service. I'm 48 yrs old, and I held the rank of Deputy Chief for 8 yrs. and I am currently a Captain in Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement. I also do Investigations.
Is there any Departments that hire retired firefighters?

Ummm don't retire, why not do a lateral transfer to another dept where you might be able to keep rank or atleast be a higher than a probie FF...?Bruce Baker

You could always start your own consulting business..."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
