Well today was very intresting here in Central Arkansas. My Department was on standby for support of the Big Dam Bike race. I never knew there were that many bikers around here. They said we had almost 1,000 come thru Mayflower. Next year they expect even more!!

What have you been doing Arkansas. Here in the Da' Bluff, we have been doing it every day. Two or Three house fires a day. The fire act grants are going out. Hope you get one. Also if your not a member of the Arkansas State Firefighters Assoc. You need to join. Lots of good stuff in the Assoc.

Do they know what that will do to the Volunteer Fire Service in Arkansas?
Right now, I have four people I am trying to give modules one and two too. Between their schedules and mine, we are having to do one on one's so they can get certified. Its all most of my department members can do to keep our 6 hours a quarter of required departmental training. I know from a safety standpoint where it would be nice to take the 10 classes but I feel a lot of people will quit volunteering If it happens. Also, who will teach those classes? Does the Academy have enough instructors for the 300+ volunteer departments?

    Thumbs up

To all that are wondering. The changes that are being talked about are not set. They are trying to get them so we do not lose any ff's. I would rather put someone in a house that has training through mod 7 than someone that has not even taken mod 3. The ff's would have 5 years to do the classes. If the ff's can not get these in that amount of time they might need try to find something else to do. I am a instructor for in house classes and i have most of my guys up to mod 6. Some of them have done the classes with me or other instructors and have gotten them done in 6 months. If you really want the classes you will find a way. It was not just paid departments there were volunteer departments there also. It was people that care about the ff's they have on the departments. This department is all volunteer along with some of the others i have talked to and we all think it is a good idea. Missed you at the meeting on the 4th

    Default classes

The AFA is still going strong. I have asked for 6 classes and we have had all of them approved. If you ask for a class you should get it. The belief that the afa does not have enough instructors is not true. Fill out the class request form and you should have a class coming. We had 20-22 classes last year. We should have that many or more this year. The more training your department gets the better off you and your community will be. The next ASFFA central district meeting will be in Malvern at the Hot Sping county fairgrounds april 5th 7:00 hope to see you there.

    Default busy week for us

In north stone co, we had 2 good woods fires, the rain monday brought 3 calls for accidents on the curvy stretch of RT5 and this weekend we had a real big woods fire that we had to get major help from forestry to get out.
Probably will not have anything for a couple of weeks.

    Default PBFD Numbering

Hey 7160, what's up with the numbering system in the PBFD? You guys have seven stations, but your engine companies are numbered in the 30s and you have a rescue 51, too, eh? Why no Engine 1, Engine 2, etc?
