    Default Inspector

I was curious if anyone knows how to go about getting a fire inspector job... How competative is it? What types of classes come in handy? Is there a real need for them? Is it better to go through a county or some other way? Any info is really appreciated!! Also is there an age limit? I am 20 and am done my investigator AA. Oh, and if anyone knows of a college where I can earn a Bachelors in investigations that would be really helpful too! Thanks and Stay Safe!

First off, where are you located? If you want a job near home, check with your state certification agency and see what is required to obtain the inspectors certification. If you are wanting to move, then check with that states agency. In Texas there is an inspectors class that is required for certification and then you must pass a test at the end to receive the certification. You ask if it is competative, it can be depending on where you want to work. Yes there is a real need for inspectors in the fire department.

    Hope this helps.
