Default State of Connecticut Protective Services-Fire

Connecticut is testing for Protective service fire trainee I do not know where the openings are located. The State of Connecticut operates fire departments at Bradley International Airport, UCONN-Storrs campus, UCONN Health Center in Farmington, and several other facilities.

Closing is now April 10. C-PAT requirement has been dropped.

Default Bradley ANG is the likely location

If you read the posting, the position requires membership in the Connecticut Air National Guard. Thus the likely location is the base up at Bradley International Airport.

CT ANG membership is only required for postings at the air base. The other state properties do not require you to be a member of the guard.

so what exactly is this job? is it more of an administrative thing or an actual firefighting position? either way, i plan on faxing in my app on monday. seems kind of strange that 100% of the scoring is based on the written exam. but hey, i'm not complaining, just curious.

I know that positions at UCONN Storrs, UCONN Health Center, and Bradley Airport are full time fire fighter positions. IIRC, new hires attend the 10 week recruit class at the CT Fire Academy.

The way the state work with their exams is this...

An agency contacts DAS and requests an exam be offered.

DAS gives the exam and establishes "the list"

The agency the requested the test uses "that list" to start thier hiring.

Should another agency need to fill a position, they post the job opening and require that the applicants has already taken the exam.

The test that was given on 4/29 was requested by UCONN Health Center in Farmington. I dont know if there were other sessions, but I took it in the 12 noon - 3 pm session and there were >120 people there.

State Positions for this classification include: UCONN Health Center, UCONN Storrs, Bradley Fire, Southbury Training School, and the ANG.

The CPAT wasn't dropped, but I belive that you will have to take it after the exam, but before appointment.

As for the ANG, I dont think you need to be part of the ANG, but you need to get DOD clearance.

You need to be in the ANG for 6 yrs from your date of hire.

    Anything new??

I know there were letters sent out and that UCONN Health Center put out an announcement, but other than that, things have been on the DL.
