    Exclamation NFIR Reporting

Good morning all. We were funded for a grant in Dec. 2003. We put all of our NFIR reports into a beautiful software program called Red Alert. The "Red Alert" company instructed us on how to do this and they were to forward all of the reports on for filing. Last night, in an innocent conversation with a chief from another department, I learned that none of our reports were filed/received. When we closed out the grant we stated that we were in compliance with the NFIR requirement because we did not know that there was an issue. What do we do now? We are putting together a proposal for SCBA that is BADLY needed and I'm sure that this will impact us getting another grant. Any advice on how to proceed would be GREATLY appreciated.

Immediately resubmit you NFIR data directly to the state and bypass your software company. The NYS email address is: nfirs5@dos.state.ny.us they will send you a confirmation email saying that they recieved the info. Be advised you must upload your reports in a .txt file to NY. If you have any problems call them at 518-474-6746. Then again maybe you should call them first to confirm if they did or did not recieve your data. They are usually pretty easy to work with.

Also NY will forward your data to NFIRS.

    Default Thanks

I appreciate the info. Someone told us we have to have a dedicated e-mail address just for NFIR reporting. Do you know if this is correct or can I just e-mail it from my home/office e-mail?

I have always used my personal email, but confirm with DOS first if you have doubts.

We use Red Alert. I enter all the data for the month and then save it. I then go into the red alert program and copy that months data. Then I take this data and email it to the state at nfirs5@dos.state.ny.us . They in turn return with a confirmation if everything is ok. That is one of the little things I don't like about Red Alert. The rest of the program is fine. Yes that statement that NY forwards to NFIRS is very true. We have recieved two grants so far and must be everything is going through.
