    Default witch school to attend

I am getting out of the medical field of the military and moving to Florida and I was wondering what firfighting school was the best to attend?

I feel the presence of the spelling police. Just take anything said here with a grain of salt. If you get anybody recommending the Harry Potter or the Sabrina School of Firfighting, please ignore......

Yes, I hear Hogwarts is a very nice school.

The cost of potions, magic wands, and flying brooms can be high. you should apply for some financial aid.

I guess it depends on where you want to fight forest fires to see "which" firfighting class you want to attend. If you can't get into a firfighting class maybe there's a pinefighting or a cedarfighting class with an opening.

    Spelling police say:
    Which/witch
    Wear/where/we're
    Your/you're
    There/their/they're
    You/yew/use-guys (Philly talk)

He's headed to Florida, so I think it would be "palmfighting" he would be looking for!

The Florida State Fire College in Ocala is very good.

I don't think they have broom parking though.

Man, everyone got to you before I could. Since the razzing has been covered, I will address your question.

First, do a search on this topic. It has been covered many, many times.

As for getting a job in FL, you also need to think about the medical side. You need to be an EMT. Hopefully you have National Registry as this will allow you to challenge the state test.

Being an EMT or medic gives you an advantage when applying for the fire academy as those canidates are selected first.

As for which school to attend, it does not matter. They all follow the state guidelines, are very strict, and demand discipline and hardwork.

The state fire exam is a bugger. They are hardcore about their certification there.

It would help if you told us where you are planning on residing and who you want to work for. There are many jobs there but you need to be a FF/EMT at a minimum.

    Thumbs down Ha Ha Ha

You Guys Are A Bunch Of Comedians In Here. I Have My National Emt So I Have To Challenge The Florida Emt. But When I Go In And Apply For A Firefighting Job Do They Hold One School Higher Than Another?

Being in here is like working in a fire station. If we give you a hard time, it just means we love ya.

You have to worry when you don't get ragged on.

Before your done you'll get plenty of real info from guys down in FLA.

Meanwhile, smile and laugh cause were like a school of sharks, once we smell blood were all over it. Sit back and laugh with us, you'll have to learn to do that once you're in a station.

    Good luck.

I don't love him...don't know him....I'm just busting his balls because he can't spell. How do you expect to excel and make it in a SCHOOL if you can't even figure out which "which" you should use in a sentence. You learn simple things like that quite early in your education. It amazes me that people fail to recognize this.

Would you include someone who can't spell SENTENCE in that statement?

    Good throw.

By the way the love thing is just because I am a child of the 60's and we love everybody. It does not mean that I am a candidate for the Brokeback Mountain Fire Brigade.

Hey, hey there, Steve...you don't want to be messin' with the conifers...send him after something deciduous that he can take in one or two rounds...maybe maplefighting or oakfighting...

No one school is better than the other because your final exam is all regulated by the state. All employers care about is if you have your FL fire standards or not. School attended is of no concern.

There are only 30 academies in FL and they are all about the same. Fire academy is too big of a business for anyone to get a negative rap and the only way that would happen is if their students were consistently failing.

What would be of a benefit to you however is to attend the academy nearest the place you want to work. You get a lot of exposure to potential employers and coworkers, due to guest instructors and word of mouth. You never know who is watching so always be on your A game.

We're going to find out where you can wear your purple pants.

    Your purple pants are disgusting.
You're going to wear those purple pants?

There is some weirdo talking about purple pants.
    There goes a firetruck.
    Go over there.

    Their purple pants look gross.
    We went to their house.

They're going to laugh their fricking heads off at me.

Ahhhhhhhhhh how much does it suck having to take a lunch break? Oh well, it passed the time to expand on dragon's lesson.
