(KUTV) LIBERTY- Fire destroyed an old LDS church building in Weber County Friday, which had been converted into a residential home.

The fire started around 9:30 a.m. at the Old Red Church located at 4086 North 3500 East in the town of Liberty.

Officials say one person was inside the home when the flames started, and wasn't aware of the blaze. A neighbor reportedly alerted the resident who escaped without injury.

The church was converted to a home 15 years ago and was in the process of being renovated.

Officials say the fire started in the building's attic but do not believe it was intentionally set.
