I found this while searching for another news article regarding a ferry sinking back home.
Fire Fighter Pill Mar, 25 2006 - 10:10 AM
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - A tiny transmitting pill that will provide potentially life saving information. That's what researchers at the University of Victoria are using to gather physiological data from fire fighters under stressful work conditions. Dr. Lynneth Wolski is with the physical education department at UVIC...
"What we're interested in with these fire fighters is a combination of what's happening to their heart rate and their blood pressure combined with their core temperature, because those two together give us what we call physiological strain because it puts a huge load on the cardiovascular system."
The researchers are hoping the information they collect will help fire departments to better protect the health and safety of their members.

MFRI paid people $200 this year to do a study like this for a couple hours... swallow a pill and do some PT exercises and Firefighting drills.... we'll see what comes out of the study.
