    Default Mass Guys

Anyone from mass or those familar with Nicoles law.. How is it goin to be enforced? Can the Dept conduct a surprise investigation, does your house have to be certed? Is the fire marshalls office going to be delegating a team to check up on homes, or is it pretty much up to residents of scumlords to report them...

During home inspections (house needs to be certified to be fire code compliant before any legal sale can take place) is the primary goal. Not sure if it can be checked while on runs, would imagine it could be so.

yea i know that, but that allows a gap for some to slip thru.. just called up to the academy and spoke to a few people up there bout it. and it pretty much leaves room for previous slumlords or the slumlords that dont do anything, reqing a permit, to slip thru the cracks.. idk.. can code conduct a random inspection, like just show up and ask for access to a house.. idk,, you know?.. Im sure that when we respond most of the guys, well some, will be checking.. and that can be cited as a vio..

    Don't understand the question...

    You wrote:

    and you also wrote:

Are you worried about your own Single Family Dwelling as a "house" , or are you worried about an apartment someone rents.

SFDs generally enjoy much more freedom from safety inspections, than commercial properties / Multi-Family Dwellings. Even in the MFD, the routine inspections may be limited to common areas unless a tenant allows the inspector into his apartment (his "home").

Oh, and like anyone can file a lawsuit...anyone can show up at any time and ask for access to a house. Whether the occupants have to let you in is a totally different story And even if you did have permission, whether any findings are admissible for regulatory or legal procedings is another beast in and of itself.

The CO detector has to be in place in order for a real estate transfer to take place - Realtors have been buying them to keep sales from being held up.
