Post What type of fire hazard season laws effect your area.

    Kentucky

    149.400 Fire hazard seasons

The periods commencing on February 15 and ending on April 30 and commencing on October 1 and ending on December 15 of each year are hereby declared to be and established as the fire hazard seasons.During the fire hazard seasons, even though the precautions required by KRS 149.375 shall have been taken,it shall be unlawful for any person to set fire to,or to procure another to set fire to,any flammablematerial capable of spreading fire, located in or within one hundred fifty feet (150) of any woodland or brushland, ecept between the hurs of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.,prevailing local time,or when the ground is coved with snow.

This section shall not apply to fires which may be set for the purpose of burning plant beds.

This section shall not apply to fires which may be set by competent and quailfied employees of railroad, utility,or pipeland companies in connection with the construction, operation,or maintenance of rightways.

This section does not apply to fires set by trained and qualified employees of a state goverment agency on land to reduce fuels,or improve habitat.

As you see this can be very confusing to all parties.
Then throw in who has the power to issue a outdoor burning ban and folks become more confused.

Here in Kentucky local county judge or mayor can issue city/county wide bans. The governor can issue statewide bans if needed during extraordinary forest fire hazard seasons.

In Colorado the county commissioners issue fire bans for each county (no seasonal stuff... it all has to do with risk) and the governer can issue statewide bans... in addition, the Colorado State Forrest Service (CSFS) and USFS can issue bans for their property without input from anyone.
