Default eclipse or other "integrated" CAFS systems

Does anyone have any experience with the waterour Eclipse or any other Cafs system where the pump and CAFS compressor is driven by the same source?

on paper it looks like the PTO 500 gpm Eclipse Cafs system would be the cats meow for pump and roll on a larger brush truck/interface rig.....

We have a Hale Q-Max with a pnuemax CAFS system (2001, Hale did not have its own yet), the air compressor is run off a seperate PTO from the pump, but they are both powered by the same engine. I like the belt drive of the eclipse, think its a good way to reduce the overall complexity of the pump compartment (eliminate a jack shaft and PTO), don't know how reliable they'll be.

As for pump and roll, I don't think it'll work very well. After running my pumper for 5 years one thing I can tell you is true 90% of the time, you need RPM to make CAFS. At idle the compressor just does not put out enough air to really whip of the foam. Also, CAFS want to be run at 70-115psi for optimal stream shape (our SOP is to run 95-105), anything less and you'll be just making slightly fizzy Class A foam. If you want pump and roll CAFS I think you'd be better off with a skid-mount, or a PTO drive with independent RPM control $$$. Otherwise, just make Class A until you stop.

I understand the need for RPM for the cafs compressor

some of the 4x4 trucks offer low enough low range gears to crawl at 1500 rpm and still have low ground speed.
