    Default Never!

It's not the patch that makes the man, it's the man that makes the patch!

I only trade with my brothers so that I know it is primarily being collected for the right reason. I would rather spend time sharing a story and patch over a cold one, then buying a patch over Ebay with a poser or profiteer.

    My 2 cents

amen to that we just came across 2 of ours being sold on there which is odd to us because we have only issued them to current members or past/retired members who we could trust to hang on to it.

What many of you dont know about Patch Mfr's- I did extensive research on this a few years back, when I designed a new patch for my volunteer organization......A lot of patch mfr's will over run the order- specifically to lower the cost by selling the "over run" to collectors or other distributors who will buy them in bulk- like Army Navy stores and the like. They tell you (just as an example) "$1000 per 500 patches." What they dont tell you is that it's $1000 bucks because they are going to run 750 or 1000 of them.....If you paid the true price for a true run of 500, it would be very cost prohibitive.

There is no law that says they may not do this- unless you copyright the design, which in itself could be cost prohibitive. You could also sign a contract with the mfr stating they may not sell to outside vendors, but again....it would probably be cost prohibitive.

Thumbs down Well, If It Was Up To Me........

EBay would be dead and gone tomorrow. I have absolutely no use for it.

Unless you have a legal copyright on your patches, you would have to have language written into a contract with the company who makes your patch that they will not distribute them to anyone not authorized by you.

You will pay more per patch though.

Where would Donna get all of her fire and EMS equipment?

You may not have a use for it, but I've saved a lot of money buying items on ebay. There are things sold there you can't find in stores. It's an easy way to sell things too.
I don't buy patches off ebay (or at all for that matter), but as far as I know it isn't illegal to buy/sell/collect patches...if it is, it should be enforced.
