i currently live in california and have a califorina state ff1 and ff2. in order for me to get hired as a civilian ff do i need to see if i can transfer them over to DOD certs or am i fine with that?? If i do need to switch them over how do i go about doing that??

In order to work for the DOD, you need to have fire certs that are IFSAC or ProBoard accredited. I believe that California certs are neither. It is possible to get in but you will be pretty low ranked (i.e. GS-3, which isnt much money). If you are a Paramedic it will be a little bit easier, becuase there are not many of us so I have heard of some bases waiving the DOD cert requirement to get medics in and then they give you X amount of time to get them.
