Here in Louisiana we have a town called Waterproof (or at least we did, before the hurricane....Hope it's still there...)

I think "Waterproof Fire Department" has a ring to it....

"I have a dream. It's not a big dream, it's just a little dream. My dream — and I hope you don't find this too crazy — is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

Most of the brigades around have funny sounding names...does that count?
They are mostly the aboriginal names.

For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.

    Gobbler's Knob...

Okay, its not a city or a fire department...but that is the name local law enforcement gave to a roadside park area that at dusk became a meeting point for people of "alternative lifestyle".

    You forgot "Gap"

A "Bird in Hand" is worth two in the Gap... but a hand in the Gap is worth all the birds in the world and can lead to Intercourse and Paradise, and if she doesn't agree, it can lead to Blue Ball!

Here in Massachusetts we have the Florida and Peru fire Departments in Western Massachusetts (up on the Mohawk trail, aka Route 2), so you can go to Florida or Peru without getting on an airplane.

Here in North Carolina we have a Duck Fire Department and a Blackjack Fire Department. We also have a West of New Bern Fire Department, and you guessed it; it's west of New Bern.
Just know, I chose my own fate. I drove by the fork in the road and went straight.

    Kill Devil Hills Fire Department
    Morehead FD
    Jupiter FD
Pumpkin Center (with BLUE fire trucks)
    Boger City FD
    Bath FD

    And not really unusual, but..
    Denver, NC FD
    Nashville,NC FD
    Dallas, NC FD
    Bethlehem Community FD
    Cleveland FD
Do it because you love it, not because you love being seen doing it.

West Virginia has about 445 departments and I'd say 3/4 of them are weird if you're not used to hearing them. Here are a few:

    Back Creek Valley VFD
    Big Otter VFD
    Boomer VFD
    Deerwalk VFD
    Fish Creek VFD
    Fountain VFC
    Hacker Valley VFD
    Hookersville-Muddlety FD
Kermit FD (I wonder if they have a Captain Gonzo too?)
    Mozart VFD
    Rt. 34 VFD
    Smoot VFD
    Town of Man FD
    War VFD
    Wilderness VFD

    Some are just long-winded:

    Bartow-Frank-Durbin FD
    Craigsville-Beaver-Cottle VFD
    Davis Creek/Ruthdale VFD
    Huttonsville/Mill Creek VFD
    Jumping Branch/Nimitz VFD
    Keslers Cross Lanes VF Service

Road trip! No wait....all in WV:

    Athens VFD
    Bethlehem VFD
    Buffalo VFD
    Dallas VFD
    Montgomery FD
    Vienna FD

    See a trend here?

    Cyclone FD
    Hurricane VFD
    Mount Storm FD
    Tornado VFD

LOTS of others but I'm done for now...

I remember driving past the "Boring Fire Department" in Boring, MD. I always expected to see a couple of guys sitting around a barrel playing checkers, as they waited for a fire call.
