Dose anyone know the story about a servicemen who kept tossing an M203 round in the air? Apparently it "counts" the number of revolutions. Something like 200 or 250 times and it will arm itself.
I've only had a chance to fire a few rounds during my illustrious Air Force career. We shot them off during target practice with PJs while “stuck” in Afghanistan. Later I heard from some other jealous USAF firemen, that didn't get to shoot that day, about this story.
True or untrue?

I'd just like to hear if it is possible and if anyone else has heard of this story...

We avoided a bunch that had been spilled at a vehicle accident. EOD took care of that mess. They had been thrown around and rolled around plus dented so much they were extremely unstable. Probably would have made excellent paperweights on a desk somewhere.
