About a year ago, I applied for the Philadelphia Fire Dept. I was accepted and began my Paramedic/firefighter training.Out of the blue, my grandmother who rasied me from the age of 2 had passed away. This had really messed with my mind to the point that I neeed to RESIGN. To make a long story short, I waited a year to reapply and there was some kind of mistake. as I was told by the PFD officals. So now its 2 years later and I thought it would be straightened out. Well the Commissioner Says he will not even look into the matter. I don't know what to do.

Sorry to hear of your missfortune. But, in our civil service regulations you have upto 1 year from your date of resignation to apply for reinstatement. The decision is made by Car 1. After 1 year, Im pretty sure he isnt even allowed to reinstate you. You must be hired off a list again, like everybody else. Besides, we dont have paramedic/firefighters. We have medics and we have firefighters. Which did you apply for? The medic position is now hiring should that be the one.
