According to the fire grant support web site, peer review is supposed to have started this week on half the applications received. That would indicate to me, that the computer scoring is done. The site said that they are planning to start awards in June.
Thanks Scott. We are not too optimistic this year, we asked for swiftwater gear and a boat. Low priority items, but hey, you never know........ :D
Scott's right on the peer review. Computer scoring should be done by now, three weeks of peer review panels beginning 4-24 and ending on 5-12-06. After the peer review, any announcements have to wait for (the proper term is not coming to me!!) funds to be released by the OMB (if i recall correctly). While they wait for that, some early rounds of verification e-mails may go out--lovingly referred to 'round here as the "10 questions" or "10-q's"--which ask if you will accept if offered and whether the matching funds will be available and so on. Getting the 10-q's is a very positive sign. At around the same time there will be a message
Official announcements cannot begin until the appropriated funding is released. In 2005 they expected to begin announcements in early July or late June, but the first round didn't happen until August 19. Announcements continued until 1-27-06. They are made somewhat in order of scoring, but distrubuted geographically as the weeks go by. Be patient, but check the AFG Status Page often. Good luck.
